Just as we have been recovering from the hype and excitement generated by the Big 4, Toronto's World MasterCard Fashion Week has begun and we, at StylX.net could not believe all of the talent and potential we have here in Canada. As a matter of fact, the week-long event held under a tent set on David Pecaut Square did not disappoint as highlights include mind-blowing shows by veterans like Mackage, Pink Tartan and Rudsak. Furthermore, Joe Fresh and a sportswear collection signed Target were among the hottest topics of the hour as they were surprisingly re-Freshing dare we say and truly wearable.
Throughout the week, we denoted many similarities among the designs and it is hence possible to present the hottest trends for the upcoming Spring and Summer collections of 2014, as they are also generalized in the world! First, the go-to tone is definitely blue as the hue definitely popped out against the ever preferred black, white and neutral shades of the majority of the designs. Be it, navy or baby blue, this palette is not going anywhere in 2014. Second, metallic variations mainly in silver tones were also seen repeatedly on the runway as designers opted for metallic accents or full-on treatment making the wearer stand out from the crowd in an instant. The same can be said about the third trend which is all about larger-than-life prints either on scarves, skirts or caftans but beyond what caught our attention is the textural details of the garments which consisted of quilting on outerwear, perforated fabric, laser-cut petals, feather trimmings and leather panelling offering a new dimension to clothing. Then, even though we are thinking about getting our winter gear (Canada Goose and furs) out of the antic, we certainly enjoyed witnessing the resurgence of skin-baring designs, we are talking here about cropped tops, sheer material and asymmetrical cuts. Lastly, the word of advice for S/S 2014 is certainly; FEMININE! In fact, the looks showed during the week were all really ladylike and did wonders to enhance the woman body in all its glory, like they say...If you have it, flaunt it ladies!
