Fashion Weeks!

Haute Couture fashion week, held in Paris from January 21st to the 24th, was just a delight for the eyes and minds once again. As a matter of fact, as StylXperts, we are looking forward these shows every year to fulfill our Luxury Lust and to have a glimpse of new trends and designers. As we previously mentioned in an earlier post, Haute Couture is a protected and respected heritage in France as the Federation invites only a handful of designer invitees. This year makes no exception as veterans like Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel or Ellie Saab brilliantly demonstrated their savoir-faire (think masterly crafted chiffon and intricate embroideries) and newcomers like our new favorites Zuhair Murad and Rad Hourani who presented a unisex collection in his signature black and white made their mark. During that short period, it is being said that the city is bourgeoning and witnesses a creative influence all over town with A-listers from all over the world travelling and sitting in front rows as a part of a big and oiled marketing machine. Maybe are they looking for evening gowns for premieres they will have to attend but still we are very much jealous! Also bridal wear is always showcased in those shows and we are simply drooling over those pearly white creations!
That being said, as Fashion is always about moving forward, we are excited for the upcoming Big 4. That term is referred to in the fashion world as the four majors cities in which bi-annual runway shows are taking place and where designers present their new collections. During September Ready-to-Wear, Haute Couture and men’s SS collections for the year to come are debuted while January features FW collections. Make sure to tune in for the shows and get an eyeful of fabulousness (New York, February 7-14, London, February 15-19, Milan, February 20-26 and Paris, February 26 to March 6).

Golden Globes 2013

Awards season has officially begun and we, at StylX.net, were so thrilled to watch the 70th edition of the awards ceremony not only because it recognizes outstanding performances that moved us either by making us cry or laugh during the past year but also mainly for the enjoyment that red-carpet fashion provides us. The Globes held by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is also known for honouring television in what seems to be just a great gathering of influential people working in the silver screen industry and coming together for appraisal and recognition. After two years of being hosted by the very controversial Ricky Gervais, it came to Tina Fey and Amy Phoeler, SNL veterans, to host the show and get the party started. On that matter, they really dressed up for the occasion pulling curve-hugging numbers and daring décolleté. Speaking of fashion, may we mention how great the red-carpert was; filled with so many eclectic styles and genres. A real StylXta's dream! Red was most definitely the hue of choice of A-listers (From Megan Hilty, Marion Cottillard to Claire Danes and Jennifer Lawrence, Zooey Deschanel) and even more so the trendy Oxblood shade (Miranda Kerr, our favourite, Jennifer Garner and Naomi Watts). Another style that was favoured last night was embellishments dresses which were embroidered with lace, crystals and sequins of all kinds (Jennifer Lopez, Emily Blunt, Michelle Dockery, Julianne Hough, Kate Hudson, etc.). Another trend that was very much present was obviously pastel coloured dress (Jessica Chastain and Amanda Seyfriend). We have to say that Zuhair Murad's designs are our new obsession, gowns of miss Lopez and Kerr were our favourite ones.  On the other hand, Lucy Liu, whom we love and respect, disappointed us by opting for a puffy gown that did not flatter her fit physique at all with a doubtful floral print; on the opposite Halle Berry did way better sporting a gorgeous floral print and a great décolletage as usual even though she was not the only one (Katherine McPhee)! Also, many starlets opted for two-piece outfits but they did not make an impression on us (Olivia Munn, Sienna Miller or the lovely and deserving Anne Hattaway) in addition to illusion-esque design (Nicole Kidman and Rachel Weisz). In short, it was a fashionable mayem and we cannot wait for Oscars night! We just hope Adele will be performing her original song again!

Say my name, say my name!

In an era where It bags are sported by so many people and where self-branding is a matter of very high importance, it has been clear to us that the customization of one's belongings is expected to be more and more relevant and in demand. As a matter of fact, as far as we are concerned, the trend was re-launched with Goyard and their striped tote a few years ago and was soon followed by Louis Vuitton and then came the other high-end labels; Gucci, Dior, etc.. By imprinting their initials on accessories, customers get the feeling to be one of a kind, unique. This option has been extended to not only be conducted on leather accessories but is also possible for more complex and delicate items (silk scarves, pens, etc.).  However, you cannot take this customization too far; it has been restricted to initials and family crests for most of the fashion houses who offer that service. Perhaps that is the reason why lady Gaga took matter into her hands and made her Hermès Birkin a studded and painted oeuvre d'art. Even though, we, at StylX, are true monograms fanatics, we hope that you can benefit from that service if available and experience deluxe customer care. So jump in and let your inner style shine through whatever your initials are!

Also, let us renew our happy new year wishes to all of you fabulous readers. 2013 is going to be a very stylish year if you stick with us that's for sure!
