Nicholas Kirkwood Second U.S. Store

New York world-renowned Meatpacking district located in Manatthan west side which hosts some of the hottest spots in the city be it nightclubs, art galleries, boutiques or headquarters has welcomed this spring "shoe artist" Nicholas Kirkwood first american store. As a matter of fact, the british designer third boutique was only the beginning of his global domination as the opening of the second U.S. store has been celebrated this past weekend in Sin City, more precisely in the Wynn Hotel simultaneously with the launch of the American e-commerce and the revamping of the official website. Kirkwood who got started by working for milliner Philip Treacy, launched his eponymous label in 2004, and after almost a decade of supplying fashion-loving dames like Sarah Jessica Parker or Sienna Miller with luxurious and quirky sky-high heels has presented for this summer a much more romantic collection than the previous one (urban-warrior inspired heels) offering a fanciful and sensible collection that riffled on the flower theme in various ways and delcinations. The savvy businessman was quoted saying "having our own stores has helped with the awareness of the brand, and it gives you a certain presence - a physical presence. In your own space, you can project the image of the brand, which in a department store is harder.". Kirkwood also revealed his intentions to open stores in other areas (Miami, Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong). We, at StylX.net, could not be more excited not only to be able to score one these gorgeous miniature pieces of sculpture but also because more people will be able to admire the wearable art in the form of inventive plaforms. "Having our own stores has helped with the awareness of the brand, and it gives you a certain presence - a physical presence. In your own space, you can project the image of the brand, which in a department store is harder,"

Chanel Punk Cruise 2013/14

We, at StylX.net, are so feeling the punk wave of the moment! As a matter of fact, the Chanel cruise collection 2013/14 definitely confirmed what last week MET gala was all about: Punk; from Chaos to Couture. Held for the very first time in Asian soil, more precisely in Singapore, the Chanel cruise collection, consisting of 80 looks, were scrutinized by an international star-studded audience, Dakota Fanning, Zhou Xun, Choi Si Won, Jung Ryeo Won, were among the 800 lucky attendees who got to witness Karl Lagerfeld latest creations. The parade was a classic Chanel affair with monochrome looks and accessorized with statement jewels, pearls and future It handbags but as usual Lagerfeld added its edgy twist by mixing leathers accents, gloves, and by presenting fierce hair and make-up! Peter Philips the principal make-up artist punctuated the black flips of liner by drawing another bold blue liner to the lower lash line. Moreover, Sam McKnight added to the anarchic, rebellious vibe by styling models with a choppy side-swept fringe.

As mentioned previously, the 77-year-old creative director who caused quite a commotion with last season hula hoop handbag, this time, designed an evening bag shaped in the Chanel no. 5 bottle. The prolific designer has been heard stating that "You have to be interested in the world and have a passion for what you do. It is not an ego trip that keeps me going.". And we know for a fact that he will actually have this passion for many more seasons!
Take a look at the fabulous evening by clicking here!

Please feel free to check out our Rock & Roll collection for more inspirational baubles!

Met Gala 2013

The Costume Institute Gala is first and foremost an annual ball that officially announces the opening of the Metropolitan Museum, usually consisting of a cocktail and a formal dinner. It is certainly the most exciting night of the year for us at StylX.net as the event hosted by Vogue is considered by fashion industry experts as the apotheosis of red carpets event. Every year the Met ball has a theme (previous ones were "Schiaparelli & Prada: Impossible Conversations" and "Superwomen") and this year it was all about "Punk: Chaos to Couture". As expected many impressed us but even more disapointed us by totally ignoring the theme (we are referring to you too Anna!). If there was only one chance throughout the year to combine costume and fashion it is certainly during that fashion-foward event but we guess some prefer to play it safe. On that matter some stood out from the crowd by donning fabulous punk-inspired outfits ; Madonna per example personified the essense of rock by sporting a Givenchy number worthy of the greatest punk icons. Talking of Givenchy, Ricardo Tisci, should be the designer to remember this year as Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Rooney Mara and many more opted for his creations. Of course, one of our favorite, Sarah Jessica Parker stole the show with a fabulous Philip Treacy hat that litteraly captured the whole vibe of the event that had manequins wearing the punkiest of looks! Unfortunately it would be impossible for us to comment on all of the looks but we invite all the StylXtas out there to check out the red carpet in order get inspiration and let your inner rock style shine through! As a matter of fact, you could find great accessories in our Rock & Roll collection so please feel free to browse! We would also like to know which was your favorite dress in our Photo Booth area!

Great Gatsby Mesmerizing Fashion

The much anticipated silver screen adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald tragic novel, ''The Great Gatsby'',  will open on may 10th and we, at StylX.net, cannot wait for it! As a matter of fact, the Australian film director, Baz Lurhmann who also adapted and produced Moulin Rouge, another fashion feist, this time teamed up with costume designer Catherine Martin to make sure that the outfits for the movie were right on point; depicting revealing and flamboyant flappers and elegant tuxedo-clad gentlemen in the 1920's. In order to capture the unique essence of the Roaring Twenties, Lurhmann asked Brooks Brothers to provide all of the men's primary clothes and 600 tuxedos. As for the female actresses, Martin created most of the designs to ensure historical adherence minutia but she also thought it would be for the best if she could use none other than Miuccia Prada's pieces that exactly reflected the specific time period. Without the fabulous designer knowledge the costumer designer use Prada and Miu Miu looks for the film's test and it worked wonders resulting in asking Prada to participate herself in Gatsby. By delving into such an ample starting point (all of Prada and Miu Miu looks), Martin chose looks that would transcend Fitzgerald visceral modernity. The stylish duo employed 40 looks for the movie especially during party scenes where the character of Daisy should be portrayed as the most powerful and rich woman on earth!

On the other hand, the premiere which took place last week was also a fashion statement in itself if you consider the wow's we experimented by scrutinizing these fabulous looks. Of course Carey Mulligan, Vogue May Cover, was exquisite in a sexy structured red Lanvin dress paired with black peep-toe sandal heels but her costars Isla Fisher, Nina Dobrev and Jennifer Morrison were as fabulous! Please visit our Vintage collection for more extraordinaire looks!
