Full Bloom at Prada SS 2013

For Spring/Summer 2013, Miuccia Prada actually found inspiration not only in the 60's but also in the mystique of Japanese florals that Geishas of yesterday and today would adorn themselves with. As a matter of fact, the ready-to-wear looks contained many numbers with, how could we vulgarized it...not so subtle flowers. Effectively this particular print was used intensively in red, black and white petal patterns in different sizes. As always, the creative director  had her own clear vision and translated it by presenting the world neat, unusual pieces cut with her signature impeccability. We, at StylX.net, even though not very fond of some looks that we think would be too difficult to rock even for the fiercest of the fashionistas, we are talking to you Daphne Guinness, have to applaud once again the elaboration of this cohesive eye-catching collection. Accessories wise, the use of the so-called flower power pattern was  also translated into the handbag collection that featured different sizes and uses of textures but altogether staying surprisingly demure and wearable. However, as far as the jewelry is concerned, metal alloys and the use of plexiglass and crystal added another dimension and movement to the outfits. But as one could expect, they come with a price tag which will most definitely add movement to your bank account. Upon reflexion, we would like to see your take on this trend in our Photo Booth section so feel free to upload yourself in full bloom mode!

50 Shades of Fabulous!

Palette

Having conceded that black and white made a huge comeback for 2013 and that busy (read psychedelic) prints were all over the runways, Spring and Summer are sure to be filled with eye-catching shades. Moreover, we, at Stylx.net, are totally obsesed with the unique color concept that were seen at Gucci, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Lanvin, Prabal Gurung, etc. As a matter of fact, even though we actually enjoy the diversity of the prints, sometimes only one colour can stand alone and make you stand out of the crowd! We also do think that the shade you will opt can set your mood and attitude for the day and express your inconscious feelings so choose carefully! The hues that we felt in love with are African violet, grayed jade, emerald, Monaco blue, poppy red and lemon zest. However, it does not mean that the cut should be simplier but quite the opposite in fact! Peplum and intricate drapping and sewing are still very in fashion and relatively easy to find at truly reasonable prices (Forever XXI, Zara, H&M) to name only a few. So basically, what you want to do is to pair it with minimal accessories in order to let the colour of your garment shine and speak for itself. We would love to see your take on this trend so please feel free to #post #your #photo in our #photo #booth #section and #kick #off #spring #summer in #style!

Kate Moss for Louis Vuitton at PFW

At, StylX.net, we have always recognized the beauty and prestance of Kate Moss. As a matter of fact, the 39-year-old model has been, through her 24 years in the industry, a refreshing source of controversy and inspiration which are both crucial in order to perpetuate fashion cycles and excitement. Since the heroin chic movement and her involvment in the size zero fashion, she has come a long way from being called a waif to now being considered a fashion icon and international trendsetter (Ugg boots, ballet flats, McQueen skull scarf, etc.). Now being married and taking care of her daughter and business ventures, she has been less present from the runway for several seasons now. Of course, when an old friend like Marc Jacobs asks you to make a cameo for a PFW runway show, one has to oblige inevitably. So did Kate Moss last week when she not only appeared in but closed one of the most theatrical shows of the season (Louis Vuitton, luxury hotel corridor-style runway). Sporting a shiny black bob-wig and dark oxblood lips, she strutted along new British favorite Cara Delevingue in floral silk gown complimented with lace details to die for. Overall, the show was rich in boudoir-style separates designed essentially in leather, velvet and silk worn under dramatic oversized coats and of course handbags were exquisite as usual (Speedy re-imagined in in extravagant marabou). Marc Jacobs has done it again folks, we can only bow down on his marvelous and intricate vision and precision and save money in order to invest in those one-of-a-kind pieces!

Céline SS 2013

Thanks to Phoebe Philo who took over the reins of Céline since September 2008, the French brand was catapulted to world-renowned status in reason of the genius of the creative director who was then returning from a two-year hiatus taking care of her daughter. As a matter of fact, after modernizing Chloé for three years (2005-2008) and creating one of the most iconic bags of all time (Paddington), she renewed Céline’s image and artistic direction by incorporating considerable key utilitarian pieces and practical tailoring resulting in what seems to be the first of many acclaimed collections. Today considered as one of the pillars of minimalism, she is established as this brilliant, hard-working and sensible human being. In fact, she received the Designer of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards in 2010 and two years later managed to design another It bag (Luggage Tote) as well as creating press positive (read ecstatic) ready-to-wear collections.

However, for the first time, we, at Stylx.net, are confused about the mink-fur heels that were seen at the designer’s spring/summer 2013 collection. Some say it was inspired from Sesame Street others from the Muppets family but we have to admit they look comfy and make an obvious statement (we are winking at you Fierce Fashionista).  We have to say that at first we were more than appalled but the more you stare at them, the more they grow on you! As for the clothing, the Céline girl has loosen up and that has been reflected in the recurring themes black, oversize and trousers. Anyways, whatever your opinion is, we cannot say that Philo never surprises us nor has left us disappointed. Please let us know what do you think in the photo booth section!
